Are you looking for a great way to tuck your kids into bed at night with a Bible story or two? Amazing Tales and Strange Stories of the Bible written by Christopher Doyle and Toni Goffe and published by Concordia Publishing House, 2009, is your answer.

This sixty-four page book allows children to travel through the stories of the Bible and discover how God keeps His promises. The book includes many stories. It begins with Adam in the Old Testament and ends with Jesus in the New Testament. The simplified text flows from page to page and is enhanced by illustrations such as the “pesky, inky, stinky” plagues of Egypt and a fierce Goliath. The stories are short, but the authors highlight many favorites like Daniel in the lion’s den and Jonah and the big fish, holding the readers’ interest.

The New Testament begins with the birth of Jesus, tells of John the Baptist and follows with Jesus’ healing and helping people. It shows Him sharing the Last Supper with His disciples and then tells of  His death on Good Friday and His resurrection on the first Easter.

Younger children will love listening to these stories, while third graders and older could read them for themselves.
