Dear Book Lovers,

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I was just looking at some interesting info on Squanto. He’s the Native American who helped the Pilgrims, teaching them about foods and farming in the New World and helping them with their relations with native peoples. I had heard this part of the story before. What I hadn’t known was that before the time of the Pilgrims, Squanto had his own story of adversity. He was kidnapped, almost sold into slavery but rescued by some friars, lived in London and made a long, and what must have been dangerous, journey back to his home in the New World only to discover that many of his people had died of plague while he was away. God’s hand though is in all this adversity and Squanto eventually helps others–the Pilgrims. What an amazing story!
